EGYPT. 20 Piastres, AH 1356/1937. London Mint. Farouk I. PCGS MS-65. KM-368. One of very few remaining Gems, and RARE as such, this spectacular Egyptian crown assumes a satiny, slightly purplish appearance when looked at from afar. Closer inspection reveals mottled magenta and tan hues throughout, though argent luster still dominates. Impeccably clean fields easily achieve the technical requirements of the grade, and a quick look at the PCGS population report confirms this piece is tied for finest certified. Truly a crown not only in denomination but also status, it would be a trophy acquisition for any advanced Egyptian cabinet.
