MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1772-Mo MF. Mexico City Mint. Charles III. NGC AU Details—Obverse Graffiti. KM-106.1; FC-53; Yonaka-M8-72; Cal-1105. First year of issue. Variety with inverted Assayers’ letters. This decently preserved example boasts a strong strike with bold devices. The surfaces display lovely rich gray patina with areas of brighter coloration on the high points with even wear in the exposed areas. Close inspection reveals “W 1874” lightly scratched into the obverse field to the right of the bust accounting for the details grade, now toned over matching the rest of the coin. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of this early issue.
