Undated (ca. 1652-1674) St. Patrick Halfpenny. Martin 3-C, W-11540. Rarity-6+. Large Letters. Good-4 (PCGS).128.1 grains. Very choice for the grade, smooth light brown with just even wear and no problems. The splash is nearly circular, centered below the crown. Legends on the kings side are soft at ECCE, where the die break through those letters has weakened the die into the center, where detail is also blunted. This elusive variety is usually only found with poor surfaces, and whatever this coin gives up in detail is more than made up for by its excellent eye appeal.PCGS# 902842.From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier from our (Stacks) January 2007 Americana Sale, lot 6384, via Dave Wnuck (Coin Rarities); Jim LaSarre, December 2009.
