Obverse: Ngu Phuc, two bats in clouds above and three bats in clouds below; Reverse: Thieu Tri Thong Bao. This wholly original and nicely preserved survivor exhibits bold crisp design features with smooth surfaces and lovely old cabinet tone. The exposed fields and high points display a rich pervasive gray patina with an iridescent sheen that pops out when tilting in the light. Minor earthen deposits are noticed amongst devices and crevasses lending to its pleasing and wholesome appearance. This seldom encountered and ever popular type offers good eye appeal with much originality and is sure to garner much attention from interested bidders.<em>The symbolism and inscription on this type represents a clever play on words where the word Phuc meaning happiness has a similar sound to the animal depicted, the bats.
